Bishop Arthur T. Jones, Sr.
Click for enlarged version.
Pastor, spiritual father and leader, humanitarian, author, dynamic speaker,
broadcaster . . . the roles are endless and the ways in which God uses him to touch the
lives of others is incomparable.
Bishop Arthur T. Jones, Sr., with his devoted wife and family by
his side, has worked diligently and passionately for many years in obedience to his
calling. This obedience has led to an international ministry that has changed the course
of lives around the globe.
In 1974, the Lord began to speak to the heart of Bishop Jones about establishing a church.
After praying and seeking direction, his faith in God was placed in action on May 15,
1974.
It all began in a double car garage of his parents, Roosevelt C.
Jones, Sr. (Deacon) and Essie M. Jones
(Presiding Evangelist). Bishop Jones met with a small group of 15. Thus, the church
was organized and the work began.
Bishop Jones has ministered help and healing to the hearts and
minds of millions, preaching peace and holiness to those both
near and far. He has a divine understanding of the power and will of God and a simple
"child-like" faith that allows him an unwavering fellowship with
Christ. His style has always been characterized with Divine truth, simplicity, and
direction from God. From the pulpit, his messages are most frequently on the subjects of
holiness, God's tender mercies, tithes and offerings, blessings, and God's divine plans
for the lives of His people. His sermons are energetic and metaphorically theatrical,
while using scriptures from the Holy Bible. In the audience,
sincere praise, worship and dance reiterate his words.
Bishop Jones' ministry and his obedience to God led to the growth of the church. The
membership grew and the Lord began to perform miracles. On October 6, 1975 the ministry
moved into "The Little Church." This creed was adopted: "For the People Had
a Mind to Work."
In the little church souls were saved and backsliders were reclaimed. Many were healed and
the members' love grew for one another. God called ministers, deacons, and missionaries to
do His work and appointed Bishop Jones as their spiritual father and leader. God then
let Bishop Jones know it was time to continue with the vision and to build a larger
church. God told him that if he would preach the Gospel, the true Gospel, He would build
the church and send the "sheep." After continued hard work, fasting,
praying, giving of time, tithe and offerings, Bishop Jones moved his congregation
into a beautiful, new church on August 21, 1983. During this time, the creed was revised:
"For the People Had a Mind to Work, and the People Still Have a Mind to Work."
This building presently serves as the church's banquet hall. It is known as "Holsey Hall." This building is named in loving memory of Elder
Wilbur Holsey Jr., Bishop Jones' brother-in-law and a faithful elder in the Ministry.
God revealed to Bishop Jones that the time had come to launch even further into the deep.
As a result,
six additional churches were formed under the Ministry. All of the
churches began as missions to serve and assist the underprivileged and lost souls.
Now, they are all full gospel churches. Thank God for the Pastors
and their families hard work and dedication in the Ministry!
Bishop Jones is a man who has gone from preaching in a two-car garage with a few members,
to a breathtaking Cathedral leading and inspiring thousands. He is a man with a huge
heart and pure dedication to God's will. A man who walks in holiness and lives the
life he preaches. He is a man who walks with and trusts God. If ever the question
was asked: "Is there a prophet in the land?" the answer would have to be
yes...and his name is the Honorable Bishop Arthur T. Jones, Sr.
Bishop Jones now serves as Presiding Bishop of All People Church of God in Christ, Inc.,
which includes 7 churches, and numerous missions that he supports in Florida, Brazil, and
Africa. Bishop Jones is a renowned speaker and broadcaster. His ministry is known
throughout the United States and abroad for delivering the true word of God.
In Bishop Jones' book, Crazy Things, he says, "If God has been telling you to do something that seems crazy, do it in faith, and watch God work."
